Hong Kong marathon
Every spring, runners compete on Nathan Road for the Hong Kong Marathon. The preferred disciplines of the runners are the half marathon and marathon route, the 10 km run, as well as hand bike routes over 5 and 10 km.

Buddha’s birthday
Buddha’s birthday is celebrated annually with ceremonies in temples and Buddhist monasteries on the 8th day of the 4th lunar month. The biggest and most beautiful ceremonies are celebrated in the Po Lin Monastery on the island of Lantau (west of Hong Kong), here is the home of the imposing statue of the “big Buddha”.

Dragon boat festival
On the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, the dragon boat festival is celebrated every year at various venues. The ornate dragon boats are a colorful spectacle at their races to commemorate the death of Chinese national hero Qu Yuan.
