Directions:

The easiest way to get to the airport from central Shanghai is via the Yanan Xilu Motorway. The airport exit is well signposted.

Public transport – street:

Bus: Most major hotels offer shuttle bus services to the airport and regular buses run regularly to the city center.

From Terminal 1:
Line 1207 to the zoo (6 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.),
line 806 to Lupu Bridge (6 a.m. to 9.30 p.m.),
line 807 to Qingjian Xincun (5.30 a.m. to 10.30 p.m.).

From Terminal 2:

Line 4 to Zizhu Science Park (6 a.m. to 11 p.m.),

Line 9 to West Jiading Metro Station (6 a.m. – 11 p.m.),

Line 941 goes to Shanghai Railway Station (5:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.),

Line 316 (night bus) to The Bund, East Yan’an Rd (Pudong) (11 p.m. – 5 a.m.),

Airport bus number 1 runs every 20 minutes to Pudong International Airport (travel time: 35-50 minutes).

There is little space for luggage on the buses.
Long-distance buses connect the airport with Suzhou, Nan Jing and Hongzhou.

Taxis are always available. Most taxis are equipped with taximeters. If there is no working taximeter, the fare should be agreed in advance. For taxi rides into the city center, an airport exit fee of CNY 15 is charged in addition to the fare (70-100 CNY). It is advisable to present the driver with a note with the desired destination in Chinese or to display it on a map. The travel time to downtown Shanghai is 25-40 minutes.

Public transport – train:

The airport is served by metro lines 2 and 10. Line 2 also goes to Shanghai Pudong Airport. The journey takes about 35 minutes. Travel costs: approx. ¥ 6.

The airport is right next to the Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, which connects to the high-speed trains Beijing-Shanghai, Shanghai-Hangzhou and Shanghai-Nanjing.

Exchange offices, banks and ATMs are available.

Means of communication:

Postal and telecommunications services are available. Each terminal has a post office. There are international direct dial telephones in the Arrivals Hall. Public phones with coin and card operation are also available. Internet connection, also as a free Wi-Fi service, is also available.

Gastronomy:

A selection of restaurants, bars and cafes is available in both terminals.

Shopping:

There are duty-free shops and a supermarket just outside the airport entrance, where Chinese specialties such as silk clothing and handicrafts are offered.

Luggage:

Luggage trolleys are available in the arrival and departure halls. Uniformed porters are available for a fee, but tipping is prohibited. A radio office (Tel: (021) 22 38 10 85) is located in the arrivals hall of Terminal 2.

Other facilities:

Smoking areas in both terminals, two medical centers, a beauty salon and a fitness center in the Shanghai International Airport Hotel are available.

Conference and meeting rooms:

The airport has three smaller business centers, one in Terminal 1 and two more in Terminal 2. These are equipped with fax and copy machines and offer Internet access.

The Shanghai International Airport Hotel (Tel: (021) 62 68 88 66. Internet: www.siah.com) offers business facilities around the clock, including meeting rooms, telephones, telegram, fax and photocopying services and catering around the clock. VIP lounges are also available.

Accessibility facilities:

Disabled toilets, elevators and wheelchair ramps are available.

Parking spaces:

Short and long-term parking spaces are available in front of the terminal buildings.

Car rental:

The car rental companies Angel Car Rental and Avis are represented at the airport.
Cars with a driver can be rented for a day or a week; many hotels offer this service. Most visitors use it.
